For The Cherry Layer:

  • 1 (3-ounce) package of cherry Jell-O powder

  • 1 cup of boiling water

  • ¾ cup of tequila

  • ¼ cup of grenadine syrup

For The Orange Layer:

  • 1 (3-ounce) package of orange Jell-O powder

  • 1 cup of boiling water

  • ½ cup of tequila

  • ½ cup of fresh-squeezed orange juice from 1 to 2 large navel oranges (pulp strained out)

  • Begin by placing 18 (2-ounce) Jello shot/condiment cups on a rimmed tray and setting them aside.

  • Prepare the cherry layer first by adding cherry-flavored Jello gelatin powder and boiling water to a large mixing bowl with a pour spout. Stir until the gelatin powder is completely dissolved.

  • Combine the tequila and grenadine syrup with the cherry liquid. Mix thoroughly.

  • Pour the cherry liquid slowly into each of the 2-ounce plastic cups. Fill each cup to about a third to half of its capacity.

  • Refrigerate the cups for at least two hours before proceeding to the next step.

  • To prepare the orange layer, add orange-flavored Jello powder and boiling water to a large mixing bowl with a pour spout. Stir until the gelatin powder is completely dissolved.

  • Add tequila and fresh-squeezed orange juice to the orange liquid. Mix thoroughly.

  • Once the cherry layer has fully set, pour the orange liquid carefully onto the cherry layer in each cup, filling the cups to the top.

  • Refrigerate the cups for an additional 3 to 4 hours until fully set.

  • Finally, garnish each Tequila Sunrise Jello shot with a small wedge of fresh orange and a maraschino cherry.
