Introducing: DCABC DROP 500

Dear Durham County residents and bourbon enthusiasts,

We’ve heard your feedback loud and clear.

Over the last year and a half, Durham County ABC has used a weekly allocated product release format. Along the way, we’ve listened to customer feedback, watched participation patterns, and continued looking for ways to make access feel broader, simpler, and more exciting. Beginning Summer 2026, we’re making a change.

Weekly 100-bottle releases will be retired in favor of a new format:

One release. One day.

Once each month.

500+ bottles.

One randomly chosen Durham ABC location.

Our goal is simple: create more opportunity for more people to participate and make allocated releases feel more accessible beyond the usual routine.

The rules remain the same:

  • No holding bottles

  • No saving places

  • No purchasing on behalf of others

  • One allocated bottle per person, per day

A reminder for all participants: Allocated products purchased through Durham County ABC are intended for lawful personal use. The unauthorized resale of alcoholic beverages may violate North Carolina law and may be subject to enforcement by Alcohol Law Enforcement (ALE) and other appropriate authorities.

In short: enjoy the hunt, enjoy the bottle, and help us keep it fair for everyone.

Thank you for being part of the Durham ABC community. See you at the starting line!
